Clash Royale actually has two separate progression ladders, and mixing them up is common. This guide explains Trophy Road and Path of Legends so you know exactly what each rank means and which to push.
Trophy Road (the arenas)
Trophy Road is the classic ladder. You earn trophies by winning and climb through arenas — Goblin Stadium, Spell Valley, Royal Arena, Legendary Arena and beyond, up to 12,000+ trophies in seasonal arenas. Your card levels matter here, so a higher-levelled account climbs more easily. Want a specific arena? A trophy boost takes you there.
Path of Legends (ranked)
Path of Legends is the competitive ranked mode, unlocked at 5,000 trophies. It normalises all cards to tournament standard, so it is pure skill. Its leagues are: Master I, Master II, Master III, Champion, Grand Champion, Royal Champion, and Ultimate Champion. A Path of Legends boost pushes your ranked badge.
Key differences at a glance
- Card levels: matter on Trophy Road, normalised in Path of Legends.
- Unlock: Trophy Road is available from the start; ranked unlocks at 5,000 trophies.
- Reset: trophies are mostly persistent; ranked resets partially each season.
- Rewards: Trophy Road gives unlock rewards; ranked gives seasonal medals and exclusive cosmetics.
Which should you push?
If you want milestone arenas, rewards along Trophy Road, or to hit numbers like 9,000 trophies, push Trophy Road. If you want to prove skill and earn ranked badges like Ultimate Champion, push Path of Legends. Many players do both. Not sure where to start?
